My preference is for the top version. I like the construction and the extra mummy on top - duck-billed platypus?
It's good to see the sketches.
I like the bottom one with just the fish mummy, and for some reason I like the green cloth and upside down torches.
Both are equally poignant.
You've clearly divided opinion...
Steve must be a liberal.
Personally I'd go for the top one...more reassuring. The bottom one feels more precarious and takes me out of my comfort zone...
