Blood Money
I can't remember why I got this cheque from Wolff Olins, but I must have felt it was for something unethical. I did enjoy drawing the cheque, but felt guilty about drawing the money.Pen and ink, watercolour and coloured paper. Approx A4 size. Click pic to enlarge.

GTV-2000

Back in the 80's I had an Alfa Romeo GTV 2000. An old car even then, with a beautiful Bertone body that was prone to rust. It reeked of Waxoyl and had a proper wooden steering wheel. It was the only car I ever sold for more than I paid for it.Here we see a self portrait showing a high speed run down the A23 out of London. The right hand is performing the traditional British motorists' greeting, whilst steering with the knees.
Indian ink 15cm x 10cm.

Non Est Tanti
This is the first proof of a lino print of a coat of arms I designed for The Singularity Press back in 1988.The tentative lettering at the top is a quick felt tip sketch. Click to enlarge.
Above is a preparatory drawing on tracing paper, ready to turn over (so that it will be a mirror image) to transfer onto the lino block, about 19cm x 19cm.

"I had that Nad in the back of my cab once..."

London cabs were affordable back in the 80's. Long before the days of the Congestion Charge one could spend ages stuck in traffic, so to pass the time I used to draw the back of the cabbie's head. I thought of turning it into a series, but never did. Here are 2 trips: Warren St. to Connaught St. and back to Grafton Way.Pen and ink 10cm x 15cm.

Official War Artist
On hearing news of extra troops being sent to Iraq, our Menzies Campbell reminded us of the golden military rule "Never re-enforce failure". In the meantime I've designed my own uniform should they ever call me up as an official war artist.Wacom Cintiq, Photoshop, Mac G5
