The loudest most awesome noise I ever experienced as a child was the
English Electric Lightning at
Farnborough, only ever surpassed in terms of ear damage by the deafening
Devo at
Hammersmith Odeon.Indian ink and watercolour 55cm x 32cm. Click to enlarge.

Fantastic line work...
Awesome detail and line work!
And we have the same last name :D
did it have business class?
[Hard to believe there can be more than one Nadler around.]
resembles a bumblebee (oversized body, undersized wings, you don't understand how it can fly - but it does(?) :)
Interesting - great illustration too.
Memories of the annual air show at Barton Aerodrome. Low-flying English Electric Lightnings, Vulcans and Folland Gnats (and the occasional soft, powerful purr of a Hurricane).
You've definitely caught the brutalist engineering of the Lightning there! Uncompromising jet engine power.
Wow, this is wonderful pen and ink work and a unique take on the theme.
Marvellous style and wit. I can remember the old Lightnings, talk about strapping a seat to a rocket! I think the pilot steered by moving his head from side to side! Uniformly excellent!
