Doge Nadlero

Study for a print based on the portrait of Doge Leonardo Loredan by Bellini in the National Gallery, London. From a 1987 home made sketchbook. I never did complete the print.
Ink and gouache on Basingwerk cream paper. 125mm x 185mm.

I looked at your drawings and paintings Ellis. I love the obsessive rendering. Congratulations on the repositioning of the Nadler brand. Looking forward to seeing the work you post after your next gallery exhibition. Our career paths have been similar. I can see the havoc a range of contexts has wreaked on your ouevre :). Me too. But the playful experimentation throughout is marvelous. Here's wishing you reams of hours to harden your focus and grow your vision.
